CogLing7 (http://cogling7.ruhosting.nl) is the biennial conference of BeNeCLA (https://benecla.com/), the Belgium-Netherlands affiliate organization of ICLA, the International Cognitive Linguistics Association (http://www.cognitivelinguistics.org/en). Membership of BeNeCLA is free. Registration at https://benecla.com/members/ will keep you updated on CogLing7.
CogLing7 will take place on Thursday 5th and Friday 6th of January 2017 at Radboud University Nijmegen. CogLing7 precedes the LOT Winterschool, hosted by CLS (www.ru.nl/cls), which will take place in Nijmegen as well, January 9-20.
Besides three confirmed plenary lectures (Timothy Colleman, University of Ghent, Asifa Majid, Radboud University and MPI Nijmegen, and Hans-Jörg Schmid, Ludwig Maximilians University Munich), the conference offers slots of 30 minutes for regular presentations. There will be a poster session and there is room for two theme sessions (4 or 5 papers each). The social program includes a visit to lab research facilities, a reception and a conference dinner.
We welcome presentations reporting recent research on the central question of Cognitive Linguistics: How is experience (cognition, sensations, emotions) conceptualized and expressed in different languages, in various cultural and situational contexts?
Abstracts should be in English, a maximum of 500 words, without name of author, and with indication of preference for poster or presentation. All abstracts, theme session proposals and correspondence should be sent to cogling7@ru.nl.
Important dates:
Deadline first proposals for theme sessions: May 15
Deadline abstracts (including abstracts for theme sessions and for posters): June 15
Notification of acceptance: September 15
We trust that CogLing7 will become as inspiring as its predecessors in Utrecht (2004), Leuven (2006), Leiden (2008), Antwerp (2010), Groningen (2012), and Ghent (2014).
